The gleam of trophies past paled
Before the arduous journey ahead
I was eager to pack and leave
The comfort zone and walk the glory road
Hearing the tales of fallen heroes
Could have discouraged me
Who by vicissitudes many,
Dashed lofty dreams over reality rocks
Behind me, the conquered terrain
Before me, endless possibilities
There’s no plan, no guarantees,
Only a promise and a muse I hold
I thirst and hunger
Dusty sandals, thinning victuals
Empty water bottles and lonesome nights
I will trek on nonetheless
I see a fountain ahead
At a refreshing milestone
I will not be confounded
For I bear the divine power
As I trek towards the sunset
I will remember the One
Walking alongside, leading on
To the place of glory
I will not settle for less
I will not be sucked into the vortex
My path is ordered by God
And I will reach my goal
